Polling Begins for Second Phase of AJK Elections in Muzaffarabad Division

The second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections, which were initially scheduled to take place on August 1-2, has begun across nine constituencies in Muzaffarabad division. The polling process is expected to continue for several hours, with voters casting their ballots at designated locations.

The AJK government has allocated a total of 12 refugee constituencies, where the majority of the population resides. These areas have been particularly affected by the ongoing conflict between Pakistan and India in Kashmir. As a result, the election commission has taken extra precautions to ensure the security and safety of voters.

According to sources, over 100,000 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots across the nine constituencies. The polling process is being overseen by a team of officials from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), in collaboration with local authorities. The ECP has also deployed observers from various international organizations to monitor the voting process.

The second phase of the elections aims to address some of the concerns raised during the first phase, which was marred by logistical issues and security concerns. This includes providing more polling stations, increasing the number of observers, and ensuring that all necessary equipment is in place for a smooth voting process.

The AJK government has announced that it will provide free transportation services to voters from remote areas, as well as compensation for those who are unable to travel due to various reasons. Additionally, the government has promised to maintain law and order in the area during the election period.

As of now, no major incidents have been reported, but officials have warned against any attempts to disrupt the voting process or intimidate voters. The ECP has also issued a statement assuring the public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure a peaceful and transparent electoral process.

The second phase of the AJK elections is expected to conclude by late afternoon today. Once the polls close, the results will be announced, and the winning candidates will be declared.
