Karachi: A Scuffle Erupts at MQM-P Party Headquarters in Bahadurabad

A meeting of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) at its party’s headquarters in Bahadurabad near Char Minar on Sunday evening turned violent, with a scuffle and chaos breaking out between supporters of two rival groups. The incident occurred after senior leaders left the meeting.

According to sources within the MQM-P, the clash began when workers from the group led by Anis Qaimkhani clashed with those supporting Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, who was present at the party’s temporary headquarters. The situation escalated further as a scuffle broke out between members of both groups.

Police were initially present at the scene and took control to prevent the situation from deteriorating further. However, heavy firing was reported inside the party headquarters, causing fear and panic in the area. One person, identified as Amir Ali, 40, sustained a bullet injury while another injured individual, Farooq Sattar, Ali Khursheedi, and Haque, arrived at the scene later.

The police officer requesting anonymity stated that no arrests were made due to the chaotic nature of the situation. The official also mentioned that workers from both groups dispersed after being ordered by the party’s leaders to leave the premises.

In a separate incident, one person with a firearm injury was brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital from Bahadurabad. A doctor at the hospital stated that three others were injured by sticks and stones during the scuffle.

The MQM-P has condemned the violence, calling it an attempt to divide Sindh but failing in its efforts. The party’s spokesperson, Sadia Javed, tweeted: “Those who sought to divide others have themselves splintered into factions today. The people have once again given a fitting response to those who pursued the politics of hatred against Sindh’s unity.”

The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing tensions within the MQM-P and its leadership. As the party continues to navigate internal conflicts, it remains unclear what measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
