After an impressive Test match, Abdullah Shafique will continue with Pakistan for the England series. Following Shan Masood’s injury in the first Test match against the West Indies, Abdullah will be in the squad for England.
Abdullah Shafique entered the national Test team after Shan Masood got injured in the first Test. Following that, he played in Port of Spain and scored an unbeaten 160, helping Pakistan take the lead in the first innings. In the second innings, he scored an unbeaten 24. With this staggering scorecard, Abdullah became the Player of the Match.
Abdullah Shafique was crucial in the second Test, and a key factor in ending Pakistan’s away win drought. Abdullah made his debut in 2021, and until now he has played 25 matches, where he has scored 1,794 runs at an average of 41.7. His highest score is 201, while he has contributed a total of six centuries and six fifties.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has not officially announced any squad details. But in the absence of Shan, it is pretty clear that Abdullah will be included. Meanwhile, the England side has announced a similar squad to the one that thrashed India 4-0, including the humiliating 76 all out.
In the tough conditions of England, where Shan will not be part of the Pakistan squad, it will be crucial for Pakistan to utilise Abdullah if they need to score big.
