Infantino Under Pressure as UEFA Rift Deepens Amid Fresh Allegations

One day you’re a good man, next the biggest worst man alive. FIFA president is now facing allegations of favoritism during his time at UEFA. Somewhere, it all connects to calls for him to step down as FIFA President.

Earlier this week, FIFA president faced a new allegation from his tenure at UEFA. Reports suggest that he favoured a female employee, giving her a salary package more than what was in her job category. Even after she stepped down from her position, she received a financial benefit, including funding for an MBA course.

Infantino rejected the allegations outright. He said that during his time at UEFA, he did not give anyone a favour. UEFA’s administration confirmed that payments were made, saying the departure payment was in line with the regulations in place at the time.

During the ongoing Women’s AFCON, FIFA president met Morocco Football Federation officials. It was claimed to be a fruitful meeting, with Morocco continuing to support the president. The Moroccan Federation had already officially endorsed Infantino’s candidacy for the FIFA presidency ahead of the 2027 election.

Right now, the FIFA president is on the hunt for support following a possible vote over the presidency. UEFA is prominently against the President following his idea of bringing private stakeholders into FIFA and FIFA-oriented competitions. Later on, he stepped back from the proposal following opposition.

But this has already made UEFA furious. Now, things are getting into a tag of war, where both sides are trying to get support from as many members as they can. The FIFA presidential election is scheduled for March 2027. Let’s see what happens and how this story works out.
