Yash’s Toxic: A ₹500 Crore Gamble With Huge Expectations

From a man doing advertising for his film while working as an auto driver to becoming one of the biggest Indian stars, Yash was an energetic star from day one until now. He reached the global level with a massive hit of the KGF series.

After the massive hit of KGF Chapter Two, which grossed over 1000 crores, it was very hard to choose your next film. Yash did exactly the same; he took his time, and after four years, he is set to return to the cinema screen with two massive releases. He is coming with two highly anticipated films, “Toxic,” releasing on August 26, and “Ramayan,” releasing in December.

Toxic is an action film with a decent cast of Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria. This is a gangster-genre film, with the same genre as KGF and KGF 2. But the thing that caught the eye is the budget. It is expected to be more than 500 crores. Where a story of a clash between a father and a son costs such a huge amount does not make sense.

The film’s budget itself is concerning, where an action film with up to 500 crores budget marks very high expectations for fans. The production itself raised concern about how they spent 500 crores on just an action-packed film. But to be a simple hit, it needed to reach up to 600 crores. While the global breakeven target scales even higher depending on the final recovery rights.

The issue was that Toxic will not get a sole release. Before it, on August 20th, Khalifa and I’m Game are releasing. In case any of them gets public attention, the Toxic collection will be impacted in its own state. But the upper hand they have is the pan-India release. In the North Indian market, they do not have any competition.

Toxic itself is a massive project for Yash and the Kannada industry. It will set up the hype for Ramayan if it becomes a massive blockbuster hit.
