Nouman Ali is set to make his debut in the County Championship following a recent contract with Lancashire, where he will participate in the final six games of the County season. Nouman Ali will feature for Lancashire on August 20th against Northamptonshire.
Nouman Ali is one of the players who broke down the stigma of cricket defying age. The 39-year-old spinner made his debut for Pakistan in 2021 at the age of 34. He took 101 wickets in 22 matches while featuring for the Shaheens. But right now, he is out of the squad following Ali Usman. Usman took six wickets in the second Test, retaining his place for the England tour.
The Pakistan National team is right now in England, where they will play their first game on August 19th at Headingley Carnegie, Leeds. Sajid Ali and Ali Usman will be responsible for the spin department.
Nouman Ali shared his thoughts on his county contract:
“I am looking forward to playing for Lancashire and experiencing county cricket in England for the first time. The County Championship is a great competition, and I’m very excited to play at Emirates Old Trafford.”
While the spinner also mentioned the rich history of Lancashire, adding that the spin legend Wasim Akram featured for the English side. On the other side, Lancashire management is also looking forward to featuring him. The director of the English county said:
“His record speaks for itself with the red ball, and we believe his experience and know-how will make a real difference to us in these final six Championship games.”
Right now, Lancashire sits in sixth position in the table, with the Championship entering the decisive round. For the final six games, they are strengthening their squad for a final fight. Nouman Ali is one of the additions following this move.
