Dulquer Salmaan and the Burden of Carrying Mammootty’s Legacy

In the Indian film industry, the biggest dark spot is always nepotism. It was not like in Hollywood, where if you are talented, they push you up. A similar thing goes on in the South Indian film industry as well. When that thing is worse in the South, where a family can have more than five or six superstars.

But what makes the South industry different is that they also support good films. There were films that made records at the box office but had no big names. That’s why nepotism gave us some of the biggest film stars in the South Indian industry. From Allu Arjun to Jr NTR, these actors belong to highly influential families in the film industry.

But with a big family name comes big responsibility. Some of the stars surpass that, and some are struggling to surpass it. One of these names is Dulquer Salmaan. He is the son of Malayalam superstar Mammootty. His father is one of the biggest superstars the Malayalam industry has.

Dulquer Salmaan is one of the most talented actors. He has an impressive script selection like his father. But when you’re the son of one of the biggest superstars in the industry, you have to be more than a good actor. Dulquer was exceptional on screen, where he got a chance to share the screen with the late Irrfan Khan earlier in his career.

But in terms of box office collection, he is still behind his father. One of the most anticipated projects of Dulquer was King of Kotha, but at the box office, it did not go well.

With Lucky Baskhar, he made a massive impact on the audience. In the film, he was a banker who scammed the bank and looted millions. But in his upcoming venture, he is acting as a gambler. Dulquer is returning to his charm as a rich and lavish man. Somewhere, the kind of characters suits him with his personality and attitude.

Many fans hoped that I’m Game would be a box-office hit for him. But the biggest issue was that on the same date, August 20th, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s action-packed Khalifa is coming. For sure, it will not be an easy release for both stars because Prithviraj needs a massive return at the box office.
