Balochistan’s Turbat City: Six Laborers Found Dead with Bullet Wounds After Kidnapping
In a devastating turn of events, six laborers who were kidnapped earlier this week in Balochistan’s Kech district have been found dead with bullet wounds. The incident occurred on Tuesday when unidentified armed men blocked the Turbat-Mand Road and took away the seven workers, who were traveling in a vehicle.
The kidnapping was carried out by an unknown group of armed individuals, who targeted the laborers at Kalatak area of Kech district. One of the kidnapped laborers was killed immediately, while another body was dumped on a highway shortly after the abduction.
According to officials from Balochistan Home Department spokesperson Babar Yousafzai, the kidnappers took the remaining six laborers to an undisclosed location and later killed them as well. The bodies were found in Turbat’s Nasirabad area, with torture marks and bullet wounds indicating that they had been subjected to brutal treatment.
The incident is believed to be part of a larger pattern of violence and kidnapping in Balochistan, which has seen a significant increase in terrorist attacks and kidnappings over the past two months. The province emerged as the most affected during this period, with 71 terrorist attacks reported nationwide compared to 34 in April.
Balochistan’s security situation has been deteriorating sharply since May, driven primarily by escalating terrorist violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. A monthly security assessment released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) noted that after two consecutive months of improvement, the province’s security situation had deteriorated significantly.
The kidnapping of six laborers is a tragic reminder of the ongoing security challenges faced by Balochistan. The incident highlights the need for increased efforts to address the root causes of violence in the region and ensure the safety and security of citizens.
