**Iran Condemns US-Saudi Strikes in Iraq as ‘Clear Aggression’**

The Iranian government has strongly condemned a series of airstrikes carried out by the United States and Saudi Arabia against Iraqi forces, calling it “clear aggression” that targets civilians.

According to reports, on February 24, 2023, the US-led coalition launched airstrikes against Iraqi military bases in northern Iraq, killing at least six people and injuring several others. The strikes were reportedly aimed at disrupting the country’s efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.

Iranian officials have accused the US-Saudi alliance of orchestrating the attacks, which they claim are a clear attempt to destabilize the region and undermine Iran’s influence in Iraq.

“We strongly condemn these aggressive actions by the United States and Saudi Arabia,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. “These strikes target innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly.”

The airstrikes have sparked widespread outrage across Iraq, with many calling for increased military action against the US-Saudi coalition.

“Today’s attacks are a clear sign of the alliance’s willingness to use force to achieve its goals in the region,” said Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi. “We will not tolerate such aggression and will take all necessary measures to defend our sovereignty.”

The conflict between Iran and Iraq has been ongoing for years, with tensions escalating in recent months due to disagreements over issues such as oil production and border security.

In addition to the airstrikes against Iraqi military bases, US-Saudi forces have also launched attacks on Iranian-backed militias in northern Iraq. These attacks have resulted in significant losses for both sides, including the deaths of several high-ranking officials from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The situation remains volatile, with many experts warning that a wider conflict could erupt if tensions do not ease.

**Background**

Tensions between Iran and Iraq have been escalating in recent months due to disagreements over issues such as oil production and border security. The two countries have also had strained relations in the past, particularly during the 2015-2016 protests against the Iranian government’s disputed presidential election.

In January 2023, US President Joe Biden announced a new strategy for the Middle East aimed at countering Iran’s influence in Iraq and other regional countries. However, this move was met with opposition from some Iraqi politicians who argued that it would lead to increased tensions between Iran and Iraq.
