Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan Convener Calls for New Province in Sindh

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has reiterated its demand for the creation of a new province in Sindh, citing concerns over the state’s economic and social development. The movement, led by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, has been advocating for a separate entity since 2018.

The MQM-P convener stated that the current administrative divisions in Sindh are not conducive to addressing the region’s unique needs. He argued that the province is plagued by poverty, unemployment, and inadequate infrastructure, which hinder its economic growth. Siddiqui also pointed out that Sindh has been consistently ranked among the poorest provinces in Pakistan.

The MQM-P convener emphasized that a new province would provide an opportunity to address these issues through targeted development programs and policies tailored to the specific needs of each region. He claimed that such a move would not only benefit Sindh but also contribute to the overall economic growth of Pakistan as a whole.

Siddiqui’s call for a new province in Sindh has garnered significant attention from various stakeholders, including local politicians, business leaders, and civil society organizations. The MQM-P has received support from several prominent figures within the movement, who have expressed their willingness to work towards this goal.

However, not everyone is convinced of the need for a separate entity in Sindh. Some critics argue that creating another province would lead to increased administrative costs, which could be better spent on addressing pressing issues such as education and healthcare. Others have raised concerns about the potential impact on regional stability and cooperation with neighboring provinces.

Despite these reservations, Siddiqui remains optimistic about the prospects of his movement’s demands being met. He has stated that he is willing to engage in dialogue with all stakeholders to find a solution that benefits both Sindh and the rest of Pakistan.

The MQM-P convener also emphasized that any decision regarding the creation of a new province would be taken after thorough consultations with local leaders, politicians, and experts from various fields. He claimed that such an approach would ensure that the needs of all parties are addressed in a fair and transparent manner.

As the debate surrounding Sindh’s administrative divisions continues to gain momentum, it remains to be seen whether Siddiqui’s movement will succeed in achieving its goal. One thing is certain, however: the MQM-P convener has sparked an important conversation about the need for targeted development programs and policies that address regional disparities in Pakistan.
