Karachi Braces for More Rain as PMD Issues Warnings
Parts of Karachi received light showers on Saturday, marking an early indication that the city may face more precipitation over the next few days. According to data from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), light rain was reported in several areas across the metropolis.
The PMD has issued warnings for moderate rainfall with dust and thunderstorms in Karachi from today until August 3, citing a westerly wave affecting northern regions that is expected to strengthen and impact upper and central parts of the country. Under this system, moderate rainfall with dust and thunderstorms is forecasted for Karachi from Saturday (today) till Monday.
The PMD also warned of more rain in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar, Khairpur, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Matiari, and Shaheed Benazirabad districts. The department forecasted rainfall with dust and thunderstorms in Ghotki, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, Naushahro Feroze, Thatta, and Jamshoro districts.
The maximum temperature was expected to range between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius in the port city on Saturday. The weather forecast predicted cloudy conditions with a chance of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions during this period, including staying indoors when possible and avoiding travel unless absolutely necessary. As the PMD continues to monitor the situation, residents can expect more precipitation in the coming days, making it essential to stay informed through official channels.
