The 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland are set to feature a highly anticipated men’s javelin throw final. Pakistani Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem qualified for the event after clearing the qualifying round with a seasonal best score of 78.63 metres.

Nadeem, who won the gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham with a record throw of 90.18 metres, is participating in the 2026 Games being held from July 23 to August 2. The men’s javelin throw final will be held tomorrow (Friday) from 6:30pm to 10:15pm local time.

The qualifying round saw Nadeem throw his season’s best of 78.63 metres, securing a spot in the final event in seventh place. This marks a significant improvement over last year’s performance when he finished ninth with a throw of 78.47m at the Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern meeting in Switzerland on July 16.

Nadeem has been training well for the Commonwealth Games, and his preparation is evident in his performances so far. However, he faces stiff competition from India’s Neeraj Chopra and Rohit Yadav, as well as Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga, who are also qualifying alongside him.

The men’s javelin throw final will be a highly anticipated event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, with top athletes vying for podium spots. The competition is expected to be fierce, given Nadeem’s impressive performance in the qualifying round and his experience competing in major international events.

Competing in the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver event, Arshad has recorded a series of performances that have left fans eagerly anticipating his final throw. His best effort was 78.47m, which he achieved with his final throw during last year’s Asian Throwing Championships.

Speaking after his final training session at the Punjab Stadium in Lahore before departing for both events, Nadeem expressed confidence in his abilities and preparation for the Commonwealth Games. He acknowledged that there is pressure to perform well, but emphasized the importance of controlling it.

The men’s javelin throw final will be broadcast live on television and streamed online, providing fans with a unique opportunity to witness this highly anticipated event up close. The 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow are expected to be one of the most exciting events of the year, featuring top athletes from around the world competing for medals.
