Federal Government’s Countdown Begins if Elections are Rigged, Warns Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has warned that a federal government’s countdown will begin only if the upcoming general elections in AJK are rigged. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari made this statement during a public rally in Muzaffarabad on July 30, 2026.

Bilawal emphasized that people’s mandate must be decided through ballot and not by any external factor. He stated that the PPP will ensure genuine representation of all parties participating in the elections. The chairman also expressed his concern over the possibility of rigging and urged the government to take necessary measures to prevent such incidents.

The Chairman further warned that if the situation escalates, a federal government’s countdown would begin. This warning came after he addressed a large gathering of PPP supporters at Muzaffarabad. Bilawal emphasized that the people have every right to choose their representatives and that any attempt to manipulate the electoral process will be met with severe consequences.

The Chairman also announced that a constitutional convention will be convened after the elections, which would aim to ensure genuine representation of all parties participating in the democratic process. This move is seen as a significant step by Bilawal towards ensuring fair and transparent elections.

Pakistan’s opposition parties, including the Pakistan Muslim League (N), have already expressed their concerns over the upcoming elections. They have demanded that the government take necessary measures to prevent rigging and ensure free and fair elections.

The AJK region has been a focal point of controversy in recent years due to its unique political landscape. The region is home to several ethnic groups, including the Kashmiri Pandits, who are demanding greater representation and rights within the region.

Bilawal’s warning comes as the country prepares for another round of elections in just over two months’ time. As the opposition parties continue to voice their concerns, it remains to be seen whether the government will take necessary measures to ensure a fair and free electoral process.
